Kathmandu Besisahar Bus Service is the only way to have an easy access to Annapurna Circuit Trekking. Dumre to Besishahar to Chame Highway connects the city to various parts of Nepal. The proximity of this city from Kathmandu(178.8 km), Pokhara (108.9 km), Bharatpur (104 km), Birganj (234 km), Damauli (59 km) and Prithbinarayan(Gorkha) (76 km). Actually, we do not get any luxurious direct tourist bus from Kathmandu to Besisahar so far. But you can get a tourist bus from Kathmandu to Dhumre and exchange bus from Dhumre to Beshisahar local transportation. Despite being the gateway to Annapurna Circuit Trekking, Besishar lacks this facility. Tourists who choose to make Annapurna Circuit Trekking either have to go by local bus or microbus (smaller van-Public). Besides, some tourists prefer to travel to Besisahar by private car or jeep too.
As a matter of fact, the local buses are not luxurious enough to travel 179km which is around 7-8 hours. And we have heavy traffic sometimes. At this time the drive will be more complicated. Again, the dusty, narrow and rough road adds more difficulties to us. However, we have no options.
No domestic and international flights connect Kathmandu to Besisahar. Even other cities like Pokhara, Chitwan, and Lumbini cannot connect to Besisahar via flight because Besisahar has no airport. Whereas, Chitwan, Lumbini, and Chitwan have direct flight connection to Kathmandu.

Kathmandu Besisahar Bus Service begins early in the morning at around 6-7 am every day from Kathmandu Buspark. If we choose to escape the local bus service, we can go with the Micro Bus or private car or jeep which tends to be expensive. Normally, the local bus service from Kathmandu to Besisahar costs 550-700 Rs. But private jeep costs 120 USDbetween150 USD and car costs 95 USD between 110 USD
If we are young and have a good stamina of travelling for 7-8 hours in the normal public bus, we can go with this service otherwise, we recommend either go by private car or jeep.
One private car or jeep can be shared by 4-7 people so that they can feel convenient.
Micro Bus from Kathmandu to Besisahar
The drive then gradually takes us out of Kathmandu valley. On the way, you’d better have some snacks like bread and biscuits. We get 10-15 minutes time for toilets and tea on the way for. Similarly, we have 30-40 minutes for lunch. Today, you will have very limited items for lunch. Meanwhile, we have Nepali dishes in restaurants on the way. That will be the buffet system. Each item costs 400-700 Rs. For this, we have to prepare some Nepali currency.
We pass via Malekhu, Mugling, and Dumre. From Dumre, we take a right turn and head to Besisahar. The straight road leads us to Pokhara. We experience the insight of country life a lot during our drive. Also, we even can experience the popular river, Trishuli which is the well-known destination as Trishuli River Rafting on the way to Besisahar.
We spend the night at Besisahar and we begin our Annapurna Circuit Trekking the next day with a crew.
