Dhampus Trek is short yet rewarding trek in Nepal. This trek passes through country inhabited by ethnic people, farm terrace, short stretch of woods and forested route to reach the warm settlement of Gurung community, Dhampus. Dhampus is not only famous for Mountain View but also equally famous for cultural experience. Hiking to Dhampus offers peek into the Gurung culture and allows you to watch the daily lives of these villages. In Short time period, you will experience the colorful culture and most of all you meet are Hindus and Buddhist living in peace and harmony.
Dhampus village trek starts from Phedi, after 30 minute drive from Pokhara and ends at Phedi or Sarangkot. From Phedi, we trek through the beautiful golden rice terrace and cultural villages with the backdrop of great Annapurna mountain range. This 2 hours hike to Dhampus continues through magical forest of rhododendron nesting various species of birds. A close view of long stretching Annapurna greets us upon our arrival at Dhampus. We enjoy the incredible sunset view in the evening and sunrise (next morning), an amazing experience that will last forever. Next day, we hike back downhill via scenic route and catch a vehicle for Pokhara.
Dhampus trek is suitable for those who don’t have enough vacation in Nepal but still want to collect some hiking experience. It is also great family trek and even suitable for children and elderly people. February to May during spring and September to December during autumn are the best time of the year for trekking to Dhampus.
