12 Days Everest Base Camp Trek is an adventure to the base camp of the highest mountain in the world. This trekking adventure suits the people who have a strong desire to trek all the way up to the Everest Base Camp and experience the Everest wonders.
You will need to be fit enough to walk long hours for several days to go on this trek. Although going up towards the base camp will be as in other base camp trips, coming down will require longer hours to complete the trek. 12 Days Everest Base Camp Trek adventure starts from Kathmandu and finishes in Kathmandu. As it is a wonderful yet high elevation trek, you will need to prepare on your physical fitness in advance. You will also need to be mentally strong to persevere in the wilderness of high altitude.
Things You See on the 12 Days Everest Base Camp Trek
This adventure trekking will take you to experience the magnificence of the Everest and other mountains in the region. But this adventure is not only about the mountains but also about the rich cultural experience of Sherpa people. Sherpa people are the ethnic to the Everest region and have been famous as the mountain climbing tribe. In addition to the mountain views and Sherpa culture, you will experience the serenity of pristine nature and wilderness of mountains. The wilderness of the mountains will offer you an overwhelming magnificence at the same time.

We will drive to the airport for our early morning flight to Lukla to enter the magnificent Everest region. The flight will take us past beautiful views of the mountains and other beautiful surroundings of Nepal and eventually to Lukla. After reaching Lukla, we embark on the first day of trekking. We will trek towards Phakding as our overnight destination today. The walk goes past Buddhist prayer walls called mani walls, prayer flags, prayer wheels and beautiful nature. We stay overnight at Phakding.
We will continue our trek to Namche bazar today. The trek takes us up towards Monjo along the Dudh Koshi river valley. We need to check into the Sagarmatha National Park check post to enter the national park. We will walk past beautiful surroundings and cross several suspension bridges along the trail to Namche Bazar. Namche Bazar is the bustling Sherpa village in the region, which is our overnight destination today.
It is our acclimatization day at Namche today. We will go for a hike around Namche which will help us acclimatize with the climate at high altitude. Later, we return back to Namche to explore the village and spend overnight.
We continue on our way towards Everest Base Camp. We will trek to Tengboche to stay overnight. Most of the section of the walk today is uphill. Once we reach Tengboche and settle into a guest house, we will explore the famous Tengboche monastery. We will also have the privilege to enjoy the view of majestic mountains.
It’s another day of adventure walk for us to Dingboche. We embark on the walk to Dingboche via beautiful villages of Dingboche and Pangboche enjoying stunning views from the trail. We will walk the challenging uphill trail from Pangboche towards Dingboche village to stay overnight.
Another day of acclimatization is due here at Dingboche today. We will go for a hike in the surrounding destinations. Later, we come back to Dingboche and explore the village and its magnificence. We will enjoy some spectacular views of the mountains. We stay overnight at Dingboche today.
We will trek to Lobuche today. The trek passes through the trail filled glacial moraine, boulders and bare surrounding. We will experience different landscapes of the mountain wilderness. We will trek past Thukla and eventually reach Lobuche to stay overnight.
We will eventually reach the Everest Base Camp today. We will head towards Gorakshep, where you will stay overnight today. Gorakshep will be the highest overnight stop for the trip. We settle into a guest house and get ready to trek to Everest base camp. The trail passes through the glacial path on a gradual ascent. We will finally reach the Everest Base Camp, the ultimate destination of the adventure. We will enjoy wonderful moments; take pictures and experience an everlasting memory. Later, we will return back to Gorakshep to stay overnight.
We will start the day with an early morning hike to Kalapatthar, the highest point of this trek. We will be at the elevation of 5,545 meters above sea level and overlooking the close-up and panoramic view of Mt. Everest and other mountains in the range. We will also enjoy a beautiful sunrise over the mountains. Later, we hike back to Gorakshep and get ready to trek all the way down to Pheriche to stay overnight.
We will trek all the way back to Namche Bazar to stay overnight today. Although it will be a long walking day, it will feel easier to walk to a lower elevation than going up.
This is the last day of the trek and we trek all the way back to Lukla. We finish the trekking part of the adventure here. After spending a few wonderful days in the mountains and reaching the base camp of the highest mountain in the world, we spend a relaxing time at Lukla.
We will take a flight back to Kathmandu after trekking to the Everest Base Camp and enjoying the culture, nature, mountains and trek in the Everest region. The trip finishes today once we drop you at your hotel in Kathmandu.
