Langtang Gosainkundda Helambu Trekking is a colourful trail which unfolds natural scenery, lakes and culture one after another.
In this trip of 17 days, you will visit three different places namely Langtang Valley, Gosainkunda and Helambu. Every site has its own uniqueness. The trail offers an astounding view of peaks like Manaslu Killer Mountain (8,163m)—HimalChuli (7,893m) and Ganesh Himal (7,406m) including Langtang Lirung.
The fascinating Hyolmo culture practised by Tamang, the typical culture of Sherpa people, the prayer flags and mani wall and the view of snow-capped peaks will fill your heart with joy. Moreover, the blooming rhododendron on the way will make your mood for the trail in most of the destinations forgetting your tiredness.
If lucky enough, you will get chance to see Red panda or cat bear. Besides, you will also get an opportunity to see Himalayan black bear, blue sheep, snow leopard and musk dear along with other species of mammals.
There is another speciality of Gosainkunda. The site is popular among Hindu. Hindus visit here to take dip in sacred Gosainkunda Lake at the festival of Janaipurnima which falls on the full moon day of August. In general, Brahmin and Kshetriya change their cord after taking dip in the lake.
It is said that Lord Shiva got released from the poison after drinking water from this kunda (Lake)—Gosiankunda. He made this kunda by striking the ground with his trident. Legends say that to save the world from the impact of lethal poison Lord Shiva drank the poison storing it in his throat which came out during the churning of the sea. Including Gosainkunda Lake, there are 108 lakes in this area.
