Kanchanjunga is the third highest mountain in the world. Located in eastern part of Nepal it towers 8586m. Kanchanjunga Circuit Trek takes you to Kanchanjunga Base Camp which is located at an altitude of 5143m.

It is a rewarding trek which offers a chance to see Jannu, Kabaru, Tuplung,Nyukla Lachung and Rathong peaks. The vegetation on the trek is equally beautiful. Rhododendrons, birch, pine and oak are abundant on the way to the base camp.

The literal meaning of kanchanjunga is ‘Five Treasures of Snow’ which refers to the five peaks which the Kanchanjunga consists of. Four out of these five peaks are above 8450m.

Locals of this part of the world are very nice and they are popular for warm hospitality. The site is also famous for Limbu culture and they (Limbu) are the major inhabitants of the area. A local drink called Tongba of this place is very popular among Nepalis. It is hot fermented millet drink prepared locally.

This trekking also requires the special permit as the site is listed under the restricted category. Kanchanjunga was opened for foreigners in 1988. Kanchanjunga Conservation Area protects the entire region where inhabit snow leopard, Himalayan black bear, red panda, musk deer and many other wild beasts.

Namaste! Info Nepal Treks and Expedition heartily welcomes you to the city of temples – Kathmandu. We will meet you at the Tribhuvan International Airport. Our office representative will be there holding placard on which either client’s or company's name will be printed just opposite of the arrival and after your reception, we will drive to the hotel. After your arrival at the hotel, we fix the schedule for a short orientation meeting which gives you some general information about the trip and you will settle rest of the due payment at the same time. For this, you have to be with 3 P.P. size photographs, a copy of passport and a copy of travel insurance.

Overnight in hotel

    Your trip to Nepal formally starts from the second day. You will be visiting UNESCO listed World Heritage Sites—Bashantapur Durbar Square, Pashupatinath, Bouddhanath and Swoyambhunath.

    Kathmandu itself is a living museum and Bashantapur Durbar Square is the jewel of the crown. The site covers more than five hectares area protecting historical and cultural heritage. The site truly portrays the ancient face of Nepal and its wealthy culture and tradition. The palace called Hanuman Dhoka is the centre of attraction. There are many chowks in the palace.

    There are many temples including Kumari Ghar (the house where living goddess resides) in the campus premises of Bashantapur Durbar Square.

    Pashupatinath is the popular site of Hindus where Lord Shiva is enshrined in the form of Linga known as ‘Shiva Linga’. The temple is built in pagoda style and is located in the bank of Bagmati River. It is reported that more than a million Hindus visit here at the time of Shiva Ratri—Lord Shiva’s birthday.

    Similarly, Bouddhanath is located on the north of Pashupatinath. It is the popular holy site of Buddhist. Bouddhanath is a stupa built structure which is the largest stupa of South Asia. The stupa is covered by the white wall where the small statue of Amitabh Buddha is attached. The locality of Boudhanath is also known as Little Tibet. The surrounding of the site resembles Tibetan culture and tradition.

    Furthermore, Swoyambhunath is another popular Buddhist site where more than hundred thousand spiritual based tourists visit every year. Swoyambhunath is a dome-like white structure. Many monks like in Bouddhanath pray here counting beads and rotating prayer wheels.

    After visiting aforementioned sites we will drive you back to the hotel. Here we will introduce you to the guide and other supporting staff who will accompany you in your Kanchanjunga Circuit Trek. You will also get time to hire or purchase essential things required for trekking.

    Overnight in a hotel

      After breakfast, we move to Tribhuvan International Airport and we will catch a flight to Suketar from the domestic terminal. Suketar is situated in the eastern region of Nepal. It is around 45-minute flight.

      From Suketar we will head towards Lalikharka. The trail is full of ups and downs. We will be walking through forests to reach Lalikharka.

      Overnight in Lalikharka

        The trail is easy today. Following descent trail, we get at Phundrawa. Ascent course begins from here. Following steep climb will bring us at Yangpang. The further uphill climb will bring us at Phumphe Danda followed by Khesewa. We will walk through forests and villages.

          As usual, after breakfast, our trekking begins. We get in Kabeli Khola. Passing through forests we head towards a small stream. View of snow-capped peaks on the way to Mamankhe is inspiring.

          Overnight in Mamankhe

            The trail today is easy but we will follow the uphill path along the bank of Kabeli Khola. Behind the stream, there is a beautiful ridge which is very much admirable. Continuing ahead we get in waterfall followed by a suspension bridge. Finally, we arrive at Yamphudin but before that, we come through small villages.

            Overnight in Yamphudin

              Going through terraced farms and meadows we will be walking on the common path used by locals. The view of mountains sighted on the way is pleasing. We walk along Amji Khola. There is a pass at Lassiya Bhanjyang which we cross to reach Tortong.

                Following steady climb, we head towards Cheram. We follow right side track of Simbuwa Khola. Walking on Lalung Valley is truly mesmerizing and the heart capturing a view of Tuplung Peak is fascinating. Rhododendron forest will give us company for few hours and we arrive at Cheram

                  It is a kind of leisure day. While on trekking this type of rest is essential for trekkers as it reduces the chances of being arrested by high altitude sickness. It helps to adjust your body with increasing elevation and this is known as acclimatization.

                  Despite rest day, we will be exploring Cheram today. We will explore Yalung Glacier. From here you get nice view of Kabaruand Rathong peaks.

                  Overnight in Cheram

                    Ascending for a while from Cheram we arrive at a snout of Yalung Glacier. Walk today is pleasing. You get nice view of several peaks. Passing through few villages we arrive at Lapsang. Ramche is next to Lapsang.

                      We will walk up towards the valley. Following a stream, we climb on the moraine. Here you get a view of Kanchanjunga south face. The further walk will show the peak of Jannu (Kumbakarna). From here we move on to arrive at Oktang Monastery followed by Yalung Base Camp. From here you get a close view of Kumbakarna (Jannu), Nyukla and Lachung peaks. Now, we descend back to Cheram.

                        We will be crossing four passes today and the first pass begins from Sinelapche Bhanjyang followed by Mirgin La Pass, Sinion La Pass and Sele La Pass.

                          After the start of the trek we head towards north. Tangbgharma Danda is near from here. We get in chorten where there are prayer flags. The site gives us notice that the trail ahead is steep. Descending through rhododendron, birch and pine forests we enter Ghunsa. It is a Buddhist village.

                            Walking along the river bank we head north passing through forests. Crossing a bridge at Rampuk Kharka, the trail will lead us toward a tricky section of the landslide. From here you get a gradual view of Mount Jannu. The further walk will bring us at Kambachen.

                              It is going to be a tough day today so we will begin our trek early in the morning. The path is rocky where there are boulders. We arrive at the waterfall. We cross the bridge and get in Ramtang Monastery.

                              Walking for some more time we reach landslide area which we have to pass at uniform speed. Descending through river we arrive at Lhonak.

                              Overnight in Lhonak

                                We will be in Kanchanjunga Base Camp today. We will be walking by the side of Kanchanjunga Glacier. Passing Pangpema we follow downhill track and reach Kanchanjunga Base Camp.

                                Mt. Kanchenjunga, Jannu Himal and other peaksare clearly visible from Base Camp. After spending some time here we again head towards Pabgpema.

                                  Retracing the path which we followed earlier we get back to Lhonak

                                    It is a descending trail all the day. We reach Ghunsa via Kambache. It is the same path which we followed earlier.

                                      It is another descending today. We arrive at Phale at first. Passing through few monasteries and crossing the forests we get in Phale. Gyabal is a bit far from here following descent route. Crossing Chhundatangka Khola we reach Gyabala.

                                      The further walk will bring us at the waterfall. Crossing suspension bridge built over Sumbung Khola we enter in Amjilosa.

                                        On the way to Chirwa you get beautiful look of the waterfall. Passing small village of Solima we go ahead and cross Ghunsa Khola and reach Sukathum. Passing through few more villages we reach Thunsa Khola followed by Tamor Nadi (river). Finally, we arrive at Chiruwa.

                                          As we go on descending the settlements get dense. We arrive at Sinwa passing through several villages. Crossing bridge built over Sinse Khola we catch Pathibhara Trek route. Once again we cross another suspension bridge over Yaphre Khola and get in Phurumbu.

                                            Our trail ends today no sooner we arrive Suketar. You can take rest here.

                                              After breakfast, we catch a flight to Kathmandu. Here in the capital, you get ample of time to roam around especially, on the streets of Thamel. If interested, you can purchase gifts to your friend and family.

                                              In the evening, you will enjoy farewell dinner and exchange your experience of the entire trip with us.

                                                Your Nepal stay ends from today. A representative of Info Nepal Treks and Expedition will drop you at Tribhuvan International Airport three hours earlier to your scheduled flight.
